REFLECTIVE MIRAGE

LKHM is a museum that serves as an empowering medium. It acts like a mirror, providing visitors with moments of reflection throughout their museum experience. The facade features stainless steel panels that not only embrace but also reflect the surrounding landscape, allowing the building to blend seamlessly with its environment.

URBAN STRATEGY : A POROUS VILLAGE

The title Mirage Village signifies the porosity and walkability within the museum. Our goal was to invite people and nature in and through the museum so that the building doesn’t act like a barrier but as a filter. First the beautiful Songhyun Park provides luscious view from inside. Our design maximized panoramic view from interiors of the lobby, black theater, as well as the rooftop terraces and public restaurant to offer everyday visitors an opportunity to truly engage with the park at all different parts of the museum.

CURATION AT HEART : CURATION LAB

It is exceptional to find a collection as diverse and high-quality as that of the Lee Kun-Hee Museum (LKHM) in a global standards. The museum’s varied collection challenges traditional paradigms and opens up limitless possibilities for curation. Our space is designed to meet this substantial challenge and to foster human interaction with utmost flexibility. At the core of LKHM, the Curation Lab offers a unique opportunity to simulate future exhibitions in real-time and at full scale, pushing the boundaries of traditional curatorial formats. The Curation Lab also invites the public to act as temporary curators, allowing individuals or institutions to select artworks for display, primarily for educational purposes.
